Beach Fun

yesterday was gorgeous. the sun was shining, the sky was blue. perfect. we headed to the beach. wingaersheek beach on the north shore. it was beautiful. one of the most beautiful beaches i have been to--perfect sand, not alot of riff raff in terms of people, awesome scenery, and not far to trek to find the perfect spot. the water was gorgeous too. it actually looked blue from a distance. claire was talking a great game of how she was going to swim, yada yada yada. i expected her touch the water with her foot and run like the wind. boy was i wrong and oh so proud. she really is a crab baby. she LOVED the water. mya too. it was cold, but for some reason, they both were little fish. claire laid down and splashed all about. mya sat in the later, crawled around, and enjoyed it when i splashed her around. it was great. claire spent alot of her time running to get water only to dump it in the sand. she used all the sand toys were bought and really had a great time. it as such a

Row, row, row the pounds. Row the pounds away!

Hold onto your seats for what I am about to say is shocking. Here it is. Are you ready? Don't faint in disbelief, but I have gone to the gym (and worked out ;) 7 times in the past two weeks. YAHOO!! I debated about posting because exercise and I tend to have an on and off again relationship since children. But, I really need to reclaim my body so I can have more kids--a bit contradictory but who wants to be lifted by a crane into the hospital bed or have to wear a moo moo their entire pregnancy? Not me! Back to the gym...I don't do a whole lot because, after all, who wants to watch the post baby flab bouncing up and down while they are running? I know I don't. Lovely picture, I know. I am sure my husband is shaking his head right now. On a side, if you've ever worked out at a gym on base you know what I am talking about. It isn't the typical experience where you've got fatties and skinnies. Oh no. I am/was by far the biggest person there. Not good for the self-e

one year check-up

claire and i took mya in for her one year check-up. it was quite the adventure as she was into everything. so much has changed since she turned one. she seems to be two times the trouble maker that she was and twice as fast. needless to say, i am on my toes and thankfully, claire is quite the rule enforcer, so i have back-up. the kiddo is doing great. she is on track for all of her milestones and growing like a weed. good news is that she is still on the charts. i have a sneaking suspicion that her growth patterns are going to be very similar to claire's as there is very little difference between the two when comparing mya and claire at one year. here are her stats: height--29 inches (50th %ile) weight--20# 4 oz. (40th %ile) head circumference --48 cm (95th %ile) she had all of her vaccines and was tested for lead. it was a sad little visit, but she did great. claire was an eagle eye this time, taking notes and asking questions. i think she knows her time is coming.

a fun filled day

our list of "to-dos" before we leave new england is rather lengthy, but we can cross off one item today. we ventured to the acton children's discovery center. it was a great little place especially geared for younger kiddos and FREE thanks to my teacher id and military id. love that. our friends, erin & liam and michelle & lucy joined us for the fun. i was able to capture a few photos before my battery died-you'd think i'd learn to double check these things. anyway, i did take some more photos with my phone, but now i have to figure out how to get them off of my phone and onto my computer. oiy! the center was cute--complete with a little diner, water table, train table, and oceanesque things too. very cute and perfect as far as size. we spent a couple of hours there, which was great for little ones. our second activity of the day was a trip to the playground. i opted to go to the playground across from our old house. it was sad, although claire didn't

one year ago...

the birthday celebration was a two day affair. chris arranged to have an edible arrangement sent to daycare yesterday. the kids devoured the fruit. it was a hit. he also included a very sweet card. i, on the other hand, am still waiting for my sweet mother's day card. hmm. anyway, i was planning on just having a tiny party for mya, claire and i, but my friends set me straight. they know just when to step in and i guess that is what makes them the absolute best. every one year old needs a special party for this special milestone. needless to say, i bought some polkadot balloons, made a polkadot cake, bought a polkadot "one" onesie and voila, it was a polkadot party. we were joined by michelle & lucy and allison and henri. they bought her some balloons, party supplies and a cute little chair that i had been eyeing at pottery barn. love it. mya loved it too. she and claire took turns sitting in it all night and even did so together a few times. mya also got a cute littl
