Constant Beginnings

Our Easter bunny likes to hide the kids' baskets. They are usually hidden in pretty obvious places, but being the kids are getting a bit better "seekers," he got tricky this year. Claire searched and searched. Finally with some assistance via a job, she discovered her basket. She was quite surprised! Our bunny doesn't give much (if any) candy in their baskets. By the time Easter rolls around, we've typically done 1-2 egg hunts, plus we always do our own later in the afternoon. Instead, baskets are filled with little things. Both girls got a Hello Kitty pillowcase. They were beyond thrilled, but the real happiness came in the mail the next day--they each got money from Grammy & Papa. We had a deal with Claire where if she read 2 books fluently, we'd buy her the Hello Kitty blanket that she has been oogling for so long. Well, the kid pulled one over on us. She opened her card, pulled out her money and announced that she can go buy the blanket! Little bugger...

claire found her basket. one lucky kiddo! we are working on smiling on command. now we'll move to differentiating cheesy from pretty. my work is never done. claire received her first Easter basket this morning. growing up, the easter bunny always hid our baskets, so i decided to keep the tradition going. although claire didn't quite get the idea until her basket was found, i imagine she will feel the same anticipation and excitement as i felt as young child. we don't give claire candy often. in fact, next to never, so we were especially happy when the easter bunny took our wishes into consideration. claire was brought a basket full of elmo toys. she was happy. another tradition i am continuing is the annual hunt for the easter dress. my sisters and i got a new easter dress each year. we found claire's dress at target of all places. love that store! she looked adorable and was a highlight at church. the rest of our day was spent relaxing as a family. we went to church an...

        Another holiday is near, which means another reason to humiliate, I mean dress up our child. I love to do this as you know. I've had the bunny ears since Valentine's Day, so the anticipation finally got the best of me or maybe it was boredom. Anyway, Claire and I had a little photoshoot, nothing racy, just clean, fun, diaper-loving, ear-toting photos. She is so much fun. Claire actually started rolling the eggs away from herself and watched in amazement as they left her little domain. It was cute.
