Playground and a Picnic

The weekend before school dismissed, we hit the playground for a picnic and playtime. The kids had a blast. Claire is our climber. She loves to go to the Rock Wall and climb. Now that Chris was trained with the ropes and harness, she can do it as much as she wants. The girl is definitely our child. I have no fear of heights and clearly, neither does she.

Summer Fun

Today marks the first day of our summer vacation. No more work, no more school, no more responsibility for a whole three months. Ha. If only... Summer does mark the first day of some good old quality time with my girls. Have I mentioned that I kind of like them? Alot? I had been planning on taking them strawberry picking and then over to Davis Farmland, which is basically in our backyard. Alison happened to ask our plans, so we invited her and Henri along (and Michelle and Lucy too, but they weren't able to make it). This is our second visit already this year, so I decided to buy a season pass. We typically go and visit the animals, feed them and wander around, but today we were able to enjoy the sprinkler park as well. It was a hit. Claire wasn't so sure about water shooting randomly out of the ground, but quickly discovered the thrill of being splashed on a super hot, humid day. Mya and Henri were lovers, of the park I mean, from the start. However, there was...

Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy...

I probably shouldn't have written the post on our first week. Who wants their laundry aired for the world, however small, to smell read? However, this blog is my journal and I hope one day, my kids will look at it and see how strong and amazing their Momma is/was (not tooting my own horn or anything ;) So, there it is. I think I am handling this whole thing VERY well, so if you got the impression that I am not by the last post, you are wrong. We had a GREAT week.  Just to spell it out for Chris: I do think a new ring would look LOVELY on my finger. He was supposed to buy me a new ring after 5 years of marriage. Well, we are almost up to 6, so one must surely be coming my way ;) And yes, I would hate to be away from my children. In fact, I hate being away from my children. I have never been away from Mya for even a night and only been away from Claire for the few days I was in the hospital with Mya. CRAZY! That is how into my kids I really am.  I think both being...

Saturday Fun with Friends

we've made Saturday's our day with friends. we enjoy it thoroughly. alison, henri, michelle and lucy came over after their swimming lesson to share some breakfast and chatting. the kiddos played and we talked, laughed and talked some more. these girls are awesome. our babies have definitely brought us together as great friends, but they are ones that feel i've had my entire life. love that feeling. chris and michelle's husband, rocky, joined us a bit later. rocky was kind enough to help chris move the remaining items from our house into the storage unit. we are so thankful for friends. we've got some great ones. after some lunch, a nap and the realization that it was 4:00, everyone went home. it was such a nice day. we love these friends.

A Day at the Beach

We aren't sure if it was a sign from God or it could just be a result of our poor attendance, but we went to church only to discover that summer services are at 9:00 instead of 10:00. Oops. I guess I should be reading the church newsletter that arrives in our mailbox faithfully every month. Instead of church, we went to the beach. It was a great beach day--upper 80 degree temperature and not a ton of people. Perfect for a day of discovery. Claire wasn't too sure about the sand, but quickly grew to like it. Chris showed her how to put the sand in the bucket and dig a hole and use the rake. He also took her down to the water where she realized how very freakin cold it is. Needless to say, sand play was all that took place. It was a fun day.

Hair Clips

I had a creative kick this afternoon, so instead of scrapbooking Claire's ever-increasing mounds and mounds of pictures, I decided to make some hair clips. Aren't they cute? I am trying to convince my sister, Jessica to partner up with me on a little business venture. I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, if you'd like to buy a clip or two, post a comment with your email address.
