Changes & Progress...

This little blog is my outlet. As a result, I often write my crazy thoughts when they are at the peak of craziness. When I am at my whits end. When life seems as though it is in a hurricane. Needless to say, there are many more blue sky days than dark ones. And that, my friends, is what matters most. Just to assure you that I am not living in a life of chaos or disaster or regrets, I thought I'd update you. This month has been one of transformations and changes. Slowly but surely we are getting there. Sometimes the things you've been searching for come when you stop searching and just live. That's where we are now. Just living. Here's the point by point dealio: 1. I searched for an on call babysitter much of last year that could come watch my kiddos for an hour or so each day so I could workout, run errands, etc. No luck. Well, well, well...I stopped looking and one fell in my lap. Sort of. I've discovered a pretty fabulous friend who hooked me up with the daughter...

Is this a hint?!!

A few years ago one of Chris' friends was telling us that he got his girlfriend a wiifit for Christmas. I couldn't help but laugh and told him that I'd be so insulted. Supposedly she wanted it, so for her it was the perfect gift. He got her other things as well that were much more meaningful--cooking school and a massage or something. Anyway, fast forward to this Christmas. I had a list of items that I wanted, but ended up buying most of them for myself prior to Christmas. I am definitely not one to wait until Christmas or birthdays to buy things--for me or anyone else. Needless to say, Chris was kind of left hanging. I wanted a $1300 lense for my camera, but as you can imagine, that wasn't an option. Hmmm. This is what I received. Very generous, but do you think my wonderful husband is subtle? Ha. Out of fear of making Chris seem like a total jerk, I should add some necessary details--only because I am nice. I had been talking about losing weight, working ...

milestones, upon milestones

whoa! times they are a changin. claire is growing up, just not out. she can finally wear 18 month clothes, BUT they are too large around the waist. lovely. maybe my mom can assist in fixing her pants when she visits next week. definitely a problem i'd love to have. she is getting to be a better listener, which is a relief to both chris and i. she still has her moments of outward protest, but we are doing many less time-outs. can't say enough, how happy that makes me. that being said, time-outs with claire are rather funny. she knows the chair to sit on and sits there until we have our little chit chat. claire is a quick learner. when we ask her why she is in time-out, her explanations always begin with "because," and followed by some jibber jabber, occasionally she'll have the right idea but generally it is jibberish. too cute. when we conclude our little chat with a friendly, "you need to listen to momma and daddy," claire ALWAYS responds, "ok....

Trouble...

What a difference one week makes! Just last week, Claire was getting a handle on crawling, inching crawl by crawl to the object she desired. It was a slow, turtle crawl. Now it is a lighting speed crawl. She comes when you call her name, she pulls herself up on anything, and reaches for everything. Let's just say she has already attempted to taste Harvest's food. I, luckily, was able to dig the kibble out of her mouth before the full taste took place. Ugh! It is a whole new world at our house. We came home from Vegas and decided it was time to baby proof our house. We bought the outlet covers, baby gate, and cabinet locks. Our life is changing so rapidly and we are loving every minute of it!!

A sad comparison...

I am sitting here comparing the picture on my previous post with the one by our profile. They are nearly the same pose with about 1 1/2 years difference in time. What a sad comparison! We look a little chubbier, a little less put together, a little less wide-eyed, a bit sleep deprived and maybe, the scariest of all, is a bit older. UGH! I thought things got better with age? Maybe Chris and I are the exception. Ok, now don't go and compare. You are getting older too....
