Changes & Progress...

This little blog is my outlet. As a result, I often write my crazy thoughts when they are at the peak of craziness. When I am at my whits end. When life seems as though it is in a hurricane. Needless to say, there are many more blue sky days than dark ones. And that, my friends, is what matters most. Just to assure you that I am not living in a life of chaos or disaster or regrets, I thought I'd update you. This month has been one of transformations and changes. Slowly but surely we are getting there. Sometimes the things you've been searching for come when you stop searching and just live. That's where we are now. Just living. Here's the point by point dealio:
1. I searched for an on call babysitter much of last year that could come watch my kiddos for an hour or so each day so I could workout, run errands, etc. No luck. Well, well, well...I stopped looking and one fell in my lap. Sort of. I've discovered a pretty fabulous friend who hooked me up with the daughter of another friend. She is watching our kiddos (as many days as I'd like) for an hour or so after work so we can work out. A couple of teacher friends are certified fitness instructors, so they offer classes in our school gym. I am in! Until soccer ends at the end of October, I can only do 2 days per week, but that's a start.
2. I am taking some time for me! I enjoyed my first girl's night out last week. We went to a Spanish Wine and Tapas tasting and had such a great time. It was fun visiting with friends, knowing that my kiddos were in great hands.
3. I am intentionally moving. I am walking whenever I can. I park farther away at work, walk/run when the girls are at gymnastics class, walk while Claire is at her violin lesson & Mya is playing on the playground, take the kids on a walk/run after school when we don't have activities, push Gavin in the stroller while the girls play at the playground. Every step makes a difference and is one more calorie burned.
4. I've stopped drinking diet coke. It is my first step towards more healthful nutrition. I am baby wearing, bought Gavin an amber teething necklace, researching essential oils, cutting out sugar and even juiced. I tease my friends that I am trying to become more hippyish, but in truth, I am trying to live more healthfully, relying less on processed foods and chemicals. Things I used to mock, I am now trying to implement. For my health and more importantly, for the health of my kids. I am not sure I'll be 100% hippy, but we'll see. It all started with Norwex, J. It all started with Norwex. :)
5. I am more organized. We lay out clothes the night before, I pack a bag with all the soccer clothes, uniforms, leotards we need for the entire week and keep it in the car. I plan meals. We have a better schedule and routine for Gavin and the girls.
All in all, life is good. I feel we have turned a huge corner this month. Gavin is getting to be such fun, the girls finally know how they can help without having to be asked, and everyone is functioning better now that a routine and predictability is in place. Of course, we sometimes get off course, but right now, things are good.

Glad to hear things are better! Your last post was making me reconsider number 3. J/k! Im meal planning a week ahead too. Makes meals less stressful for sure. Norwex is great but I'm not sure about the rest! Ha! Think the Amber necklace is more for looks but if it helps awesome! We are battling cold and sinus stuff here. Jackson has an ear infection and got meds. Avery is finally sleeping through the night. Now if we can get them both sleeping at the same time. Ugh!
Love ya, j

J, you need to buy a diffuser and get yourself some essential oils :) They will fix all your sickness problems. I'll keep you posted on that! My diffusers are in the mail. Life with 3 is great. Go for it!

I have embraced my innter crunchiness!!! Own it! The teething necklaces are wonderful.....I swear by them and they have been on my little guys necks since birth. Babywearing - don't know how anyone gets anything done without it! Oh and the cloth diapers - love them!

If you have any questions about healthy crunchy things please feel free to ask....I don't know it all but I know lots of people that know much more than me :)

I'm still working on the "me time" - I'll get there right?!?!

Oh my Erin. You are pretty inspiring. Although it may not be "me time" as most would think, your little creative sewing projects may be in that realm. I totally learned something new about you and your many talents! Can't wait to see the finished costumes.

A post

You wanted it, you asked for it, so here it is. A post. Hopefully this post will satisfy all your desires. I am not writing about the apple of my eye, Claire, but of the other apple of my eye--reality tv. I love it! Right now I am getting my fill of Big Brother. I have even lured Chris into my dark place. He mostly watched last season because Dick was such a jerk, but Chris is hooked. He's a dedicated viewer once again this season. Sadly, he was a fan of Matty who was kicked off a few weeks ago. I don't think I have a favorite. I find them all to be so obnoxious, yet I watch. Go figure. I obviously need some more excitement in my life. Girls who wear butt showing shorts, screaming matches, verbal abuse, crazy eyes, back stabbing, boys running around in their colored tighty whiteys (if tighty whiteys are colored, are they still called tighty whiteys?)---all in one episode! It is a gold mine. My second can't miss show is Housewives of Orange County or New York City. I really

2 weeks...

As I write this, my house is being cleaned and not by me. This is my favorite day of the week. There is nothing like going home to a clean house and smelling the bleach to know it is germ free as well. This is my second good day in a row! I took the day off yesterday. Claire didn't have school due to Fasching (German equivalent of Halloween--minus the door to door trick or treating), so I gave Mya the option of hanging out with us as well. She took some convincing, but later said she had a great day. I must admit that I was focused on giving my back a much needed break, so my morning consisted of napping and laying on the couch. Not my best parenting in action, but it did wonders for the rest of the day. We met Chris for lunch, then returned home to enjoy the sunshine before the girls' swimming lessons. It was in the 50's yesterday, absolutely gorgeous! It really is hard to believe that we made it through the entire winter with no snow. I think it snowed possibly 2 days, b

4 months

We are potentially down to our last four months in Korea. I say "potentially" because it rests solely on where we are going. If we are heading back to the States, we will most likely be leaving early June so that we can enjoy a full summer with family and have time to get settled before Claire begins school. We caught wind today of what could be our next assignment. Although it is far from official word, all of a sudden my tummy is filled with butterflies. I had the privilege of teaching a little first grade girl who was one of a set of quadruplets. They (she and her sisters) are the most delightful little girls. They are well behaved and truly beautiful inside and out. Anyway, their family was due to PCS (military move) in December. I teased her that I was going to follow her and live down the road. While they were house hunting, I continually asked if there was a neighboring house for me. She'd laugh and giggle, not really sure if I was serious or not. Her Mom thought
