Constant Beginnings

   It has rained for 3 days. Monsoon season is upon us and I couldn't be happier that we are leaving even if only for a couple months. I am so excited to see my family and friends. Here's a little view into our lives as we are trapped inside.  Chillin' on the couch. This kid and South Korea's humidity do not mix. She is constantly saying, "Momma, I hot!"  Sharing some yummy, yummy goodness--homemade oreo cookies and memories of my dear Grandma Arlene. Reading, reading, and reading. THese will be going home to be shared with my sisters. I am pleased to say that a kindle is waiting for me at my parents house, so I will be toting paperback books no more. I enjoyed Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, as well as Still Life with Rice. House Rules wasn't too bad. The Alchemist had a good message, but not really my thing to read a book where the message is uncovered in the beginning, but illustrated throughout the book...

Happy Father's Day to all the Daddy's out there! A big Happy Father's Day to my dear Daddy. I can't wait to see you very, very soon! A huge Happy Father's Day to the Daddy of my babies. You are an amazing parent, role model and Daddy to our girls. I am so happy they have you to guide them, play with them, act silly with, and teach them. I know you feel as though you have given them less than they deserve this year due to the number of responsibilities you are trying to fulfill and need I  remind you of your soon to be finished MBA (yippee!), but understand, it is through this pursuit, you have shown them them with hard work and sacrifice, you can acheive all. We are all so very proud of you! I heard something fitting on the radio this morning, "You don't have to be perfect to be the perfect Daddy." So true. We took on another Korean adventure this weekend. We spent the weekend on Jeju Island which is a small island off South Korea's southernmost tip. Our trip began and ended with challenges, but we survived. The morning we were to leave, we quickly packed, walked 1/2 mile to the taxi only to catch a ride to the bus station and boarded the bus. During our little bus ride, I hesitantly asked Chris if we needed passports. After a brief discussion, we decided since it was a domestic flight they wouldn't be needed. So not true. Note to self: Korea requires identification for all passengers from birth on. Lesson learned. We arrived in Jeju an hour or so later. Beautiful. We were greeted with an eclectic mix of feelings--at times of Montana, at times a tropical island,  at times, the Cape. It was strange how one place could remind us of so many. It was lovely. Roses lined the streets, phlox greeted the curbs, and greenery was plentiful. Rocks were pounded by the rushing waves ...

Look beyond my gorgeous thighs and focus your eyes on the gash. I bet your thinking our children were in danger and I had to unleash my ferocious kung fu kick on them, only to be greeted by a knife to my leg. Ahhh, I wish it were like that--well, not exactly like that, but at least the high intensity kung fu stuff. Pretty cool. Nope. Instead, I had the brilliant idea to put paper on Mya's windows (evidently Korean's like sunlight pouring into their bedrooms at sunrise). Up I went, onto her bed, completing the left window, but couldn't quite reach the right side. Yep. I decided that cheapo particle board bookshelf would be enough support for just a quick lean. Not quite. Bang went the top of the bookshelf, down I went, hitting the easel , dresser and wall. Safely on the ground, I did all that I could to not wail with pain or sob.
