Our seven year old....

Sweet, sweet, Mya.
You are officially 7 years old. No more telling us that you aren't :) We've been using it against you for a few months and you've been so quick to inform us that you aren't seven!
You continue to be a bright light in our lives. You are the queen of personality. You make us laugh, cry, and keep us on our toes. Dad and I kid that you are single handedly responsible for the gray hairs on our heads. While it is a joke, you do like to push the limits.
You are rocking the first grade. Excelling in all you do. You started doing reading counts like your older sister and the goal setting piece of it has you driven for success. I love that you are so motivated to read. You are reading beyond 2nd grade level now, which makes us so proud. Even prouder, is the point that you LOVE to read. You frequently have a book open in the car, ignoring all questions asked of you as you are enthralled in the story. You read every night--sometimes to me, sometimes I read to you. I love that time with you.
You play with everyone. I can't say that you really have a best friend or even close friends. You simply play with everyone. You also know everyone. It is insane. We used to kid that you've never met a stranger. I think that was when you were three or so. Well, it has certainly continued to ring true. You know everyone. You are definitely our bold, social butterfly who leads the pack.
We started the year with gymnastics and piano, then decided to take a break. Now that you've had some time off, you are thinking gymnastics is your thing again. We are also talking about trying soccer again. Dad and I aren't sure if the snacks/medals are driving you or the real desire to play, but time will tell. We will also give violin a whirl, but possibly hold off another year or two.
You are an amazing girl, Mya. You are forever my mini me, yet have so much of your Dad in you. You are stubborn, sweet, funny, loving, love to shine, don't want to walk in someone else's shadow, a great big sister, an animal lover, a good helper, a party girl, simply someone who wants to do their own thing. I cannot wait to see what you conquer in this world. You have an amazing spirit. Seven years has come and gone way too quickly.
-You are wearing a size 12 shoe.
-Wear size 6 clothing.
-Love to wear fleece pants.
-You prefer to sleep with no jammies!!
- Love Humphrey's, Little House, and Princess in Black books.
- You were thrilled with your new mountain bike and IPOD docking station. Now you can have dance parties in private!
-You love to look beautiful and thrive on compliments and reaching goals.
-Your favorite food is pizza, though you've branched out with meat this year. You used to hate steak and now are a fan. That being said, you are a great eater. You are not picky about anything.
-You love music. You love to learn the words and are frequently seen singing, bopping or snapping your fingers to the beat.
Mya, we are so very proud of you and who you are becoming. You are finding your own path and while it is frustrating at times, we wouldn't want it any other way. Keep on marching to your own beat. You will do amazing things in this life! We can't wait to see your story as it unfolds.
We love you more than you'll ever know!
Momma

A post

You wanted it, you asked for it, so here it is. A post. Hopefully this post will satisfy all your desires. I am not writing about the apple of my eye, Claire, but of the other apple of my eye--reality tv. I love it! Right now I am getting my fill of Big Brother. I have even lured Chris into my dark place. He mostly watched last season because Dick was such a jerk, but Chris is hooked. He's a dedicated viewer once again this season. Sadly, he was a fan of Matty who was kicked off a few weeks ago. I don't think I have a favorite. I find them all to be so obnoxious, yet I watch. Go figure. I obviously need some more excitement in my life. Girls who wear butt showing shorts, screaming matches, verbal abuse, crazy eyes, back stabbing, boys running around in their colored tighty whiteys (if tighty whiteys are colored, are they still called tighty whiteys?)---all in one episode! It is a gold mine. My second can't miss show is Housewives of Orange County or New York City. I really ...

0.0

Yes, indeeedy do. 0.0 is exactly the amount of weight I lost this week. Irritating! Here's the breakdown: number of times I cheated on my diet--ZERO! number of times I worked out--FIVE!! (running, no less). Now that is a mean, mean slap in the face. After I picked myself off the floor and resisted the urge to throw the scale through my window, I've come to realize that it is time to call in the big guns. There will be no messing around. Through a very valuable (HA!--sense the sarcasm) inservice this year, I've learned that I am "Green," meaning logical, research based, problem solver, mathmatical thinker. I am applying the same thought and strategy to my 'get fit' adventure. There will be no relying on the treadmill to tell me how much I've burned. That thing lies, LIES, LIES!! Take for example, the fact that each time I worked out, I burned at least 300 calories--most often 350, my pulse was around 87 (which is pretty much a near death resting ...

2 weeks...

As I write this, my house is being cleaned and not by me. This is my favorite day of the week. There is nothing like going home to a clean house and smelling the bleach to know it is germ free as well. This is my second good day in a row! I took the day off yesterday. Claire didn't have school due to Fasching (German equivalent of Halloween--minus the door to door trick or treating), so I gave Mya the option of hanging out with us as well. She took some convincing, but later said she had a great day. I must admit that I was focused on giving my back a much needed break, so my morning consisted of napping and laying on the couch. Not my best parenting in action, but it did wonders for the rest of the day. We met Chris for lunch, then returned home to enjoy the sunshine before the girls' swimming lessons. It was in the 50's yesterday, absolutely gorgeous! It really is hard to believe that we made it through the entire winter with no snow. I think it snowed possibly 2 days, b...
