Coex Aquarium

prime example of why it was not a good picture day ;)

example number 2. sensing a pattern.
we ventured to seoul on saturday. we have a list of things to do before we leave south korea, but instead of getting shorter, the list seems to be growing. trying to live life to the fullest is our motto. that being said, one thing we've been told that is a must see/do is the coex mall. the mall itself is similar to the mall of america, but probably a bit smaller. it is hard to compare as it is organized completely different. instead of levels, it has squares. truthfully, i am not even sure how many there are. we tackled the mall with the aquarium as our goal. it was a great little jewel. i use little a bit loosely as it was far from little. the aquarium was filled with a large variety of sea life (manatees, seals, fish galore, sharks, penguins--all the usual players) as well as variety of others (bats, hedgehogs, monkeys, spiders--a very eclectic mix for sure). it was set up very well, wasn't too crazy busy that we had difficulty manuevering our stroller and the girls were engaged throughout. mya actually was probably more into the fish thing than claire, but i guess it is a new experience for mya and old hat for claire. mya was captivated at several tanks. they had fish in everything from sinks, to refridgerators, to bathtubs and lanterns. it was very unusual and mya seemed to think so as well. claire was quite taken with the scuba divers that were doing karate kicks in the tank. chris and i were pretty impressed with the wide variety of marine life. this aquarium tops the new england aquarium hands down. now if only it had been a good picture day, then it truly would have been a perfect. after the aquarium, we shopped a bit, ate a horrible lunch at tgi fridays (even american restaurants in korea are not american). their kids menu consisted of--and i am not making this up, steak and ribs, rice, and shrimp. i thought chicken strips and fries, hotdog, hamburger, etc. were pretty much standard fare. i was very wrong. needless to say our kids ate fries and shared our meals. lesson learned.

Claire is getting to big! I really can't believe it :)

It seems like you guys are having a lot of fun in between every day life in Korea, other than the food choices? Should we mail you some chicken fingers?

Sweetness Overload

So, we are still roughing it in our amazingly, wonderfully fabulous, new house. That means, air mattresses in our living room. Fun. The girls love it, Chris and I not so much ;) Anyway, the close proximity means Chris and I get to eavesdrop on some very tender moments. They seriously bring tears to my eyes. How did we get so lucky to have them as our children??? Here's one example. Claire--"Mya, can we snuggle?" Mya--"sure." Claire--"don't let go." Mya--"No, I'll just wait until you are sleeping." Claire--"No, you wait until the middle of the night." Mya--"Okay, I'll wait until the middle of the night." Then we hear lips smacking. So cute. I won't share the meltdown that occured moments before this sweetness ;) Life isn't always rosey, now is it? Ha! In other news..we get internet today and our furniture/things tomorrow! That means 1 more night of "roughing it!" Yippee!

A post

You wanted it, you asked for it, so here it is. A post. Hopefully this post will satisfy all your desires. I am not writing about the apple of my eye, Claire, but of the other apple of my eye--reality tv. I love it! Right now I am getting my fill of Big Brother. I have even lured Chris into my dark place. He mostly watched last season because Dick was such a jerk, but Chris is hooked. He's a dedicated viewer once again this season. Sadly, he was a fan of Matty who was kicked off a few weeks ago. I don't think I have a favorite. I find them all to be so obnoxious, yet I watch. Go figure. I obviously need some more excitement in my life. Girls who wear butt showing shorts, screaming matches, verbal abuse, crazy eyes, back stabbing, boys running around in their colored tighty whiteys (if tighty whiteys are colored, are they still called tighty whiteys?)---all in one episode! It is a gold mine. My second can't miss show is Housewives of Orange County or New York City. I really ...

0.0

Yes, indeeedy do. 0.0 is exactly the amount of weight I lost this week. Irritating! Here's the breakdown: number of times I cheated on my diet--ZERO! number of times I worked out--FIVE!! (running, no less). Now that is a mean, mean slap in the face. After I picked myself off the floor and resisted the urge to throw the scale through my window, I've come to realize that it is time to call in the big guns. There will be no messing around. Through a very valuable (HA!--sense the sarcasm) inservice this year, I've learned that I am "Green," meaning logical, research based, problem solver, mathmatical thinker. I am applying the same thought and strategy to my 'get fit' adventure. There will be no relying on the treadmill to tell me how much I've burned. That thing lies, LIES, LIES!! Take for example, the fact that each time I worked out, I burned at least 300 calories--most often 350, my pulse was around 87 (which is pretty much a near death resting ...
