mya mooshki at 16 months

mya mooshki is at such a fun age right now. she is talking up a storm, copying everything claire does and trying to be miss independent. the monkey see monkey do game is a constant here. just this morning, claire was irritated with something, so she sat by my closet with her arms crossed and pouting. not two seconds later, mya was sitting right next to her, arms crossed, but all smiles. she knew she was playing. it was so cute. she also thinks that claire's big girl bike is just her size and wants to take it for a ride. she thinks that she should write when claire rights and because claire is learning about letters and doing big kid puzzles that she should be doing those things as well.
mya loves to play hiding games. she covers her face with her fingers spaced apart so she can see and tries to play peek a boo. it is pretty funny, since she is looking the entire time. mya imitates everything. her vocabulary is expanding like wildfire and she wants to do things on her own. mya can identify most basic body parts (eyes, nose, mouth, hair, ears, foot, tummy). she loves to sing songs and can even do the actions to 'wheels on the bus.'
the kiddo still loves to take baths and is naturally drawn to water. anytime we see a fountain, which are pretty plentiful here, she is right there. loves animals, squealing with delight each time she sees a dog, rabbit or any other furry being.
mya is skinny little thing. she eats decently, but she is constantly on the go. i haven't even posted the results of her last check up, but she ended up losing 2 pounds. i had to answer twenty questions as to why i thought that happened.  i am kind of nervous that the same thing is going to happen this time as well. ugh. what can i say, the kid is active!
mya is doing much better at school. she no longer cries, says the names of her caregivers and waves good-bye each morning when we leave with a smile on her face. they are teaching her little things like beading, signing, and doing little experiential activities. the cdc is growing on me. most importantly, she and claire seem to be happy there.
mya is not shy by any means. she'll go to nearly anyone who reaches out for her with a smile. she is more drawn to women than men, but is friendly at a distance with them. the korean people love it as they are all about our blonde haired babies. we are looked at and stared at everywhere we go. it is kind of funny. just tonight we ventured out to homeplus, which is comparable to a target or walmart type place. anyway, we were tucked away in the back of the store by the fish tanks, but managed to draw a smile crowd none the less. people stop with their babies, trying to get them to interact, store clerks stop and coochicoo with them, etc. it is an interesting experience.
all in all, mya is not a little baby anymore. she is definitely a toddler and if she had her way, she'd be going to preschool tomorrow.

my workout playlist

I never dreamed I'd be listening/watching this when I worked out, but it is true. Here it is: photo courtesty of Laurieberkner.com I wouldn't have it any other way. My little healthy lifestyle journey is going well. I have exercised 7 days thus far which consists of treadmill activity and an ab workout every other day. I don't pressure myself to run everyday, but I have run 4 of the 7 days. I am quite proud of that. I have never been a runner or enjoyed running, but I have grown to like it. I used to say that I had exercise induced asthma! I think I did, but maybe I outgrew it? ha. Whatever the reason, I am finding it pretty easy to run and maintain a steady pace for no less than 20 minutes each time. Pretty impressive feat for a girl like me. Interestingly, I had planned to take today off, but didn't. I actually had the desire to run. Chris and I are both sticking to the eating plan as well. So far I am down about 4 pounds. Although 4 pounds is plenty, it ...

Pink Family

Chris and I are creatures of habit. We like what we like. When we find something especially wonderful, we tend to go a bit overboard. Case in point--Chinese restaurant in Minot, ND. We frequented it often at least a couple of times per week. This was basically THE place we went out to eat. The host actually started to say things like, "nice to see you AGAIN." We were rather embarrassed and fearful that his line would eventually become, "your usual table?" Thankfully we moved. Since coming to Korea, we've tried every Brazilian Steakhouse (there are 4 or 5), I deemed Ceia my favorite. It has the most delicious white rice with which I put this onion mixture on top and it is oh. so. yummy. We became frequent visitors--typically one night per week. We joked between ourselves that we were going to be greeted as we were dreading in Minot. It never happened, thankfully, but who knows what the staff actually said as they primarily spoke Korean :) Another quirk Chris an...

9 Months

Claire is nine months old. She is such an active kid, always on the go. She no longer lays nicely when we change her diaper. It is quite the challenge. She is getting rather quick at crawling, so we have to move just as quickly to keep her out of where she doesn't belong--the fridge, cupboards, etc. Developmentally, she is right on track or maybe a bit advanced in our biased eyes. She crawls, pulls herself up, is beginning to move from one piece of furniture to another, mostly eats table food, and imitates us (both in the noises we make or actions--knocking on a door). When we hold her hands, she is beginning to take steps without much guidance. On Saturday, she made her first attempt to climb a step. Sadly, it ended with her sliding down. She has three teeth--two on the bottom, one on top with another coming in on top. Ten things we love about her: 1. her smile 2. her curiosity 3. the way she holds our hands or her own hands when she sleeps 4. her easy-goingness 5....
