Mya turned two on the 15th of May, but we had no presents to offer. In my defense, I did order the presents well over a week before her big day, but Amazon did not come through with the delivery. Thankfully, Mya is too young to know the difference or to care. We celebrated her birthday on Saturday. On aside, I am not a believer in birthday parties with friends until the child is older. Our children don't want for anything and certainly don't need. We don't go big with spending for any holiday/birthday and never have. I am pretty proud of that. Each child gets one or two presents totaling a set dollar amount. I must say, finding the perfect gift for Mya has been pretty difficult. It seems as though they have everything imaginable and whatever Mya does not have, Claire has already received. This birthday was no different. I thought and thought, searched and searched, until--I came across the plasmacar. It received rave reviews, looked great for children of all ages and looked like so much fun! I also found some cute little Dora, Diego and Boots dolls as Mya is a huge fan. She also got a Dora backpack that she loves dearly. Claire and I made the cake Saturday morning. It wasn't the cutest looking thing, but it was delicious. The birthday was a hit. Mya loved being sung to and enjoyed blowing out the candle. We actually had to do it twice because I didn't have the flash turned on to take pictures. She thought two times wasn't nearly enough, requesting another. She was darling. So excited about what lied under all that paper. The remainder of the day looked something like this...
I used to be prompt about scrapbooking in Claire's album. After seeing my sister's pictures piled up three children later, I was determined not to have the same fate. I am sure it is difficult for some of you to believe, but since Claire has been born, my free time has been limited. Really, it has. So, our pictures are finding their way into piles too--5 to be exact. However, I am thrilled to say that I finished (ok, they aren't completely finished, but nearly. I only have journaling to do.) six pages. Yes, that's right, I said SIX!! It was a major accomplishment. Here they are for your viewing pleasure. Only 5 more months left to get through....any volunteers? Jessica???
