Kindergarten Graduate

Dearest Claire,
Wow, 180 or so school days have passed and I am once again at this tear filled place as I drop you off for your LAST day of kindergarten. You have surpassed our expectations and conquered kindergarten. I think it is accurate to say that you have enjoyed each and every minute of this experience and truly look forward to resuming school in the fall.
You started the year in Landstuhl with Ms. Lee. She was a wonderfully loving teacher who obviously knew what a gem you were. She started you on chapter books after having you in class for three days and opened my eyes to the success you would experience. I was sad that you had to leave her class as we transferred you to Ramstein, but looked forward to our ride together each morning. I anticipated seeing you walking in line with your friends, offering a quick hug or high five as we passed in the hallway and dropping into your classroom to enjoy the special activities. What a wonderful year it has been! Ms. Asher has been equally wonderful. Her calm and organized nature helped you flourish.
Here are some stats:
Fall 2012:
Reading Level: A
Local Math Assessment: 9/20
Star Early Literacy: 560

Spring 2013:
Reading Level: I+ (this is the max that is allowed to test for kindergarten assessment purposes)
Local Math Assessment: 19/20
Star Early Literacy: 716

They also completed a screening for math leveling and you were in the end of 1st grade! Woo hoo!!

You are in the top 3 of your class. Daddy and I could not be more proud.

Sweetness Overload

So, we are still roughing it in our amazingly, wonderfully fabulous, new house. That means, air mattresses in our living room. Fun. The girls love it, Chris and I not so much ;) Anyway, the close proximity means Chris and I get to eavesdrop on some very tender moments. They seriously bring tears to my eyes. How did we get so lucky to have them as our children??? Here's one example. Claire--"Mya, can we snuggle?" Mya--"sure." Claire--"don't let go." Mya--"No, I'll just wait until you are sleeping." Claire--"No, you wait until the middle of the night." Mya--"Okay, I'll wait until the middle of the night." Then we hear lips smacking. So cute. I won't share the meltdown that occured moments before this sweetness ;) Life isn't always rosey, now is it? Ha! In other news..we get internet today and our furniture/things tomorrow! That means 1 more night of "roughing it!" Yippee!

A post

You wanted it, you asked for it, so here it is. A post. Hopefully this post will satisfy all your desires. I am not writing about the apple of my eye, Claire, but of the other apple of my eye--reality tv. I love it! Right now I am getting my fill of Big Brother. I have even lured Chris into my dark place. He mostly watched last season because Dick was such a jerk, but Chris is hooked. He's a dedicated viewer once again this season. Sadly, he was a fan of Matty who was kicked off a few weeks ago. I don't think I have a favorite. I find them all to be so obnoxious, yet I watch. Go figure. I obviously need some more excitement in my life. Girls who wear butt showing shorts, screaming matches, verbal abuse, crazy eyes, back stabbing, boys running around in their colored tighty whiteys (if tighty whiteys are colored, are they still called tighty whiteys?)---all in one episode! It is a gold mine. My second can't miss show is Housewives of Orange County or New York City. I really ...

0.0

Yes, indeeedy do. 0.0 is exactly the amount of weight I lost this week. Irritating! Here's the breakdown: number of times I cheated on my diet--ZERO! number of times I worked out--FIVE!! (running, no less). Now that is a mean, mean slap in the face. After I picked myself off the floor and resisted the urge to throw the scale through my window, I've come to realize that it is time to call in the big guns. There will be no messing around. Through a very valuable (HA!--sense the sarcasm) inservice this year, I've learned that I am "Green," meaning logical, research based, problem solver, mathmatical thinker. I am applying the same thought and strategy to my 'get fit' adventure. There will be no relying on the treadmill to tell me how much I've burned. That thing lies, LIES, LIES!! Take for example, the fact that each time I worked out, I burned at least 300 calories--most often 350, my pulse was around 87 (which is pretty much a near death resting ...
