One Week...

I had my 38 week appointment yesterday. Mya joined me and helped take my blood pressure and assisted Dr. Downer. She was so excited to help. Everything looks good with Pedro. He is measuring on target, heart rate was 150 bpm, but laying oblique. Obviously, since he'll be a repeat c-section it doesn't truly matter how he is positioned, but I did feel reassured that the repeat was the right decision.

I also tested positive on the GBC, which is a strain of strep. Again, this basically means nothing since he'll be delivered c-section, but interesting as I never tested positive with the girls.

I gained 50 pounds this pregnancy. I was doing so well, but obviously my body likes what it likes. 50 pounds is pretty much what I've gained during each pregnancy. I will say that I think most of the weight is truly in my belly. I've worn the same maternity pants throughout my pregnancy and only gone up a size in shirts.

I think overall, I've carried this little guy differently than I carried the girls. I felt the girls were much more "all over" whereas I think I am more round in the front with him. I experienced back pain much earlier on than I did with either girl, but it has improved immensely the past couple of weeks. I think that is because he has moved down, relieving pressure on my back.

I've begun walking again. I am going to keep up with this as my transition back to "normal life." We went on a long walk this weekend while the girls rode their bikes and now Claire has begun Marathon club at school, which means Mya and I will join her 2 days per week. I figure a mile is a mile.

My sleep is finally becoming interrupted. This is my definite sign the end is near. I love my sleep and thankfully, I've slept quite well throughout my pregnancies. Sunday night I was up for 3 hours, Monday night another 1.5 hours and last night was roughly an hour or so. I realize my sleep patterns are about to take on a major change in a very short time.

All in all, I've enjoyed my pregnancy. It has definitely had it's shares of ups and downs, mostly sparked by impatience and wanting to meet Pedro or wanting to reconnect with high intensity workouts. Either way, I think I've accomplished what I've set out to do and that is simply enjoy this journey as much as possible. I cannot wait to meet him in one week! EEEKKKK!!

Yay! !We have been patiently waiting for this child to enter the world! Being pregnant at the same time as you has been so fun this time around! (Maybe you should go for one more!) ha! I can't wait to have our kids together this time around. Avery and ***** will be such great friends! Don't worry about the weight gain. I blame genetics! It will come off. I wish I could be there to help you guys with the girls. If you lived in the United States, I would be there in a heartbeat. Just can't imagine taking a overseas flight with my two little ones by myself! Anyway, We love you all so much! Tell Chris to notify me right away. That is one advantage of being up day and night with an infant!
Love ya,
J
