Cooking up more Christmas

Mya hanging out.

Claire talking on her "phone."

Claire waiting patiently.

Cooking.

Okay, this is Claire saying "cheese," but it looks a bit "cheesy."

Chris being patient.

We were all done with our Christmas shopping for us and I even bought the kids' gifts from my parents. Pretty impressive. In fact, much of the shopping was done before last week, which is a first for me. I am typically a last minute shopper. Of course, I am not in charge of buying for my parents, which is really the reason why I not running to the mall as we speak--thank you Lisa! Anyway, my Mom called to tell me about an AWESOME find. She found a Step 2 kitchen complete with a light that works, a cash register that also works, bakery counter, stove, refridgerator, microwave, sink and food/dishes/cooking utensils for an incredible price. We couldn't refuse, so we made a quick trip last night to Worcester to pick it up. It was perfect. Chris worked steadily and put it together. Claire was somewhat impatient, but made due. She was in heaven. We put Mya to bed and let Claire enjoy their (yes, theirs, it is our way of justifying the additional present to ourselves) new kitchen. She was busy whipping up eggs in the pan on the stove, serving us juice and donuts and talking on the cash register (she seems to think the wand thing is a phone??). She played again this morning and actually cried, yes, I said, CRIED when I told her it was time to go to daycare (she also peed her pants as she didn't want to leave the kitchen to go to the bathroom---not so good, but who could blame her, I wouldn't either). She loves daycare and I often think she'd much prefer to go their than hang out with us. It was amazing. I can't wait to see what is on tonight's menu. Giving the perfect gift to our kiddos is such a thrill. I love seeing the innosence and excitement through Claire's eyes.

This kitchen looks awesome - far more sophisticated than my easy bake oven that burned me as a child!

0.0

Yes, indeeedy do. 0.0 is exactly the amount of weight I lost this week. Irritating! Here's the breakdown: number of times I cheated on my diet--ZERO! number of times I worked out--FIVE!! (running, no less). Now that is a mean, mean slap in the face. After I picked myself off the floor and resisted the urge to throw the scale through my window, I've come to realize that it is time to call in the big guns. There will be no messing around. Through a very valuable (HA!--sense the sarcasm) inservice this year, I've learned that I am "Green," meaning logical, research based, problem solver, mathmatical thinker. I am applying the same thought and strategy to my 'get fit' adventure. There will be no relying on the treadmill to tell me how much I've burned. That thing lies, LIES, LIES!! Take for example, the fact that each time I worked out, I burned at least 300 calories--most often 350, my pulse was around 87 (which is pretty much a near death resting ...

7 weeks

7 weeks has brought a couple of changes for sweet baby Mya. She is eating 5+ ounces of milk/feeding. Mya is much more awake now. She typically sleeps for about 4 hours during the day, otherwise is checking out this big bad world. Mya seems to enjoy our daily walks. She looks around and is a pretty content kiddo. Claire tends to her pacis if the need arises. We've introduced her to the activity mat, which she enjoys if she is left alone; however, given the fact that Claire too is fascinated by the mat and Mya, being left alone is a rare occurence. Mya sits in the swing daily, although she isn't a huge fan at this point. We're hoping to change her ways. She is strong, holding her head for minutes at a time and loves standing on her little feet. Mya has begun smiling. She has done this consistently for the past several days, but it is difficult to capture such an event on film as she stops smiling the moment you break eye-contact. This milestone is such a heart melting one. Th...

Bouncing Crazyiness!

I do alot of online shopping. When you live overseas, you have to. The BX is thrilling, yes, but it changes out the merchandise only so often ;) When it comes to clothing, if you shop at the BX (which I do as well), you can be guaranteed that at least 3 other people will be seen in the same item. Take for example this little gray vest that I bought. The other day, 2 other teachers showed up in the same one. Thankfully, I hadn't worn mine that day, but you get the point. Anyway, several places do not ship overseas. That's where my Mom comes in. I typically have the stuff mailed to her house and she graciously mails it to us. Readdressing the boxes, running to the post office and mailing our stuff is a major pain. I know this, but she's been so great about it. Priority mail is the way to go. She generally mails it priority and we recieve it in a week to ten days. However, I ordered a "jumpy jump" as Claire calls it, well before Christmas. Since it was so heavy and s...
