A Christmas Wish...

My Christmas wish came true. In a strange turn of our bad luck, Chris missed his rotator to Kuwait. As a result, he was able to return to Boston with us, actually, before us. After waiting 12 hours in the airport, my flight with Claire was cancelled from Baltimore, but Chris' made it back. He picked us up from the airport on Monday, we ran some errands on base and returned home to unpack and pack again. We all made the trip to ND. Chris was a bit skeptical about his flight since he had a 2 stop journey. His first flight was delayed, which in turn, affected his second. Luckily, O'Hare was delayed too. My sister and her family picked him up around 1:00 am and we flew in at 11:00 pm. It was a long day. My Mom is in the hospital for her second Christmas in a row. She has had an infection in her body, which makes it extremely difficult to walk. Sadly, she found out yesterday, she has to have a knee replacement. Hard to believe as she is far from old. We are going to visit her today and stay in Fargo for a couple of nights. Chris, Claire and I had a great Christmas Eve. Claire was very excited about the presents, opening each very delicately. As part of her gift, my parents bought her play-dough. She loves this at daycare and enjoyed it as much here. Chris supervised as she ate bite after bite. Yucky! At least it is non-toxic! Past Christmas' my Grandparents have been extremely generous to us, giving each grandchild & spouse a large monetary gift. My Mom & Dad picked up that tradition this year, giving us an equally generous gift. Chris and I are so appreciative. It was truly unexpected, bringing tears to my eyes. I am so thankful for my family. They truly are fantastic people with huge hearts. I am not sure what we will be buying with the money, but we had talked about getting another large, flat screened tv for our basement. I guess we'll see what happens when Chris returns. He flies out tomorrow and deploys a few days later. We will miss him greatly, but are so glad that he could be with us for Christmas. It truly was the best Christmas.

Happy Halloween!

The Halloween festivities are in full swing here. We attended a "Fall Festival" at my school on Thursday evening and today we enjoyed a "fall festival" at the girls' school. We've managed to keep their costumes a secret until Wednesday when Claire spilled the beans. She was doing so well at keeping the secret, I almost thought she wasn't our child for awhile ;) Claire dressed as "Pinkalicious" and Mya was a cupcake. My Mom and Dad bought Claire the book, "Pinkalicious" for her first birthday. It has been an on-going hit with our girls. They both have the entire book memorized. It is such a cute book where this girl named "Pinkalicious" loves pink. She eats too many pink cupcakes and turns pink, which she is thinks is simply beautiful then red, which is less than favorable. She eats her vegetables to turn alleviate her pain. In the meantime, her little brother is envious and devours the last one, then turns pink too. It is a ...

my workout playlist

I never dreamed I'd be listening/watching this when I worked out, but it is true. Here it is: photo courtesty of Laurieberkner.com I wouldn't have it any other way. My little healthy lifestyle journey is going well. I have exercised 7 days thus far which consists of treadmill activity and an ab workout every other day. I don't pressure myself to run everyday, but I have run 4 of the 7 days. I am quite proud of that. I have never been a runner or enjoyed running, but I have grown to like it. I used to say that I had exercise induced asthma! I think I did, but maybe I outgrew it? ha. Whatever the reason, I am finding it pretty easy to run and maintain a steady pace for no less than 20 minutes each time. Pretty impressive feat for a girl like me. Interestingly, I had planned to take today off, but didn't. I actually had the desire to run. Chris and I are both sticking to the eating plan as well. So far I am down about 4 pounds. Although 4 pounds is plenty, it ...

A post

You wanted it, you asked for it, so here it is. A post. Hopefully this post will satisfy all your desires. I am not writing about the apple of my eye, Claire, but of the other apple of my eye--reality tv. I love it! Right now I am getting my fill of Big Brother. I have even lured Chris into my dark place. He mostly watched last season because Dick was such a jerk, but Chris is hooked. He's a dedicated viewer once again this season. Sadly, he was a fan of Matty who was kicked off a few weeks ago. I don't think I have a favorite. I find them all to be so obnoxious, yet I watch. Go figure. I obviously need some more excitement in my life. Girls who wear butt showing shorts, screaming matches, verbal abuse, crazy eyes, back stabbing, boys running around in their colored tighty whiteys (if tighty whiteys are colored, are they still called tighty whiteys?)---all in one episode! It is a gold mine. My second can't miss show is Housewives of Orange County or New York City. I really ...
