answered prayers

today our prayers were answered. since mya was a few weeks old, she has had cafe au lait spots on her back and under her left arm. on their own, they are nothing, but they are one symptom of a disease called NF. this is a major disease--cysts form, learning disabilities, vision difficulties, etc. our pediatrician has never been very concerned as mya is doing well and there isn't anything that can be done at this point regardless if a diagnosis is made or not. she did recommend a referral to a pediatric dermatologist to get an initial check, so the monitoring process can begin. after a long six month wait, that appointment was today. dr. burnett was awesome. she was patient, answering each and every question, explaining Mya's birthmarks (which are considered 'segmented cafe au lait macule'), the connection to NF and one other potential disease (mccune albright syndrome). currently, mya shows no signs of either disease and is exhibiting normal growth and development. she basically ruled out both diseases. we will continue to monitor for changes and take her back for a check up in 2 years. if other cafe au laits appear, she will go back in 1 year. today we are optimistic, thankful and truly blessed that our prayers have been answered.

Oh, thats great to hear. Boy, you guys have had some worries with this child. I am thankful things are going well with her thus far.

She is so cute, she has hair. From here, it looks like there may be a red tint to it.

You have such adorable children...

A post

You wanted it, you asked for it, so here it is. A post. Hopefully this post will satisfy all your desires. I am not writing about the apple of my eye, Claire, but of the other apple of my eye--reality tv. I love it! Right now I am getting my fill of Big Brother. I have even lured Chris into my dark place. He mostly watched last season because Dick was such a jerk, but Chris is hooked. He's a dedicated viewer once again this season. Sadly, he was a fan of Matty who was kicked off a few weeks ago. I don't think I have a favorite. I find them all to be so obnoxious, yet I watch. Go figure. I obviously need some more excitement in my life. Girls who wear butt showing shorts, screaming matches, verbal abuse, crazy eyes, back stabbing, boys running around in their colored tighty whiteys (if tighty whiteys are colored, are they still called tighty whiteys?)---all in one episode! It is a gold mine. My second can't miss show is Housewives of Orange County or New York City. I really

Progress

I used to be prompt about scrapbooking in Claire's album. After seeing my sister's pictures piled up three children later, I was determined not to have the same fate. I am sure it is difficult for some of you to believe, but since Claire has been born, my free time has been limited. Really, it has. So, our pictures are finding their way into piles too--5 to be exact. However, I am thrilled to say that I finished (ok, they aren't completely finished, but nearly. I only have journaling to do.) six pages. Yes, that's right, I said SIX!! It was a major accomplishment. Here they are for your viewing pleasure. Only 5 more months left to get through....any volunteers? Jessica???

Claire, Mya and the NEWS

Chris and I had this elaborate plan on how we were going to share the news with our girls. I ordered adorable shirts, which took forever to get here. They were supposed to ship Oct. 4, but didn't. I am not a patient soul at all. I love to share good news and spread the excitement. We went to a German doctor last week for a gender reveal ultrasound. He was 99% certain of his selection. Claire and I began looking at clothes online. She asked questions about why we were looking at baby clothing, but thankfully, my sister has a little guy and a baby girl who is due in December. They are my perfect excuses for all things baby! Claire asked nothing more and began pointing out things we should buy Jackson or the new baby girl. Our weekends typically involve partaking in a local event or just relaxing, which means a trip to the KMCC Mall. Saturday we went shopping or at least looking. Once again, the girls became excited, choosing items for Jackson or the new baby girl. I decided I cou
