Valentine's Fun

I love creativity. I admire those who have the natural ability to create and inspire those of us who, well, don't necessarily have it. I love holidays and reasons to do something a bit out of the ordinary. After scouring the internet, I've found tons and tons of fantastic ideas to make Valentine's Day a bit more special. We started out by making our own Valentines for Claire's class and the girls' teachers at school. They are super cute and quite easy too. Chris was the cutting guy. He perfected the technique of the slits, which my patience wouldn't allow.

Next up was a treasure hunt, which was a huge hit. I again, cannot take credit. Found this little gem online. It was perfect for our girls. Claire is already asking to do another one ;)
The very first clue.

Chris reading the starting clue to begin the treasure hunt.

Claire finding the first clue.

Mya double checking the clues.

There's the loot!

Love that smile!

The girls loved their Hello Kitty V-Day shirts.

Mya finally smiled on command, but of course, I wasn't ready ;)
Chris is leaving for a training trip next week. He'll be gone over a month. He'll be dining on stateside goodness, soaking up the sun and living the life down south. At least that is what I envision. I have a feeling he'll try to put a serious, work related twist on the "business" trip, but I know how it goes. Anyway, I'll be the "sometimes single momma" again. No biggie. Lord knows I've done it a million times. Chris and I will celebrate V-Day when he returns. Looking forward to that. Hopefully time flies!

Weight loss update: I have officially hit the 10 pound mark. So happy. I stuck to the workout sessions, but loosened up just a tad on the eating. I am allowing myself  a few bites here and there of "forbidden" foods and amazingly, have been satisfied with just those bites. I tried on several pairs of "before Mya" pants last night. They all fit and look good. I am really at my middle point--the point where I was before I had Mya. Now I just have to set my sights on another 15 pounds or so and I'll be in my "before Claire" clothes. Lovely categorizations, huh? All this effort, just to get chubby again. I will do it differently the next time around--trust me ;)

Guess what I did on Thursday night? SCRAPBOOKED!! Never thought I'd get the kick I needed, but I did. Heather had some girls over to her house and that was it. I went and completed 2 2-page spreads. I actually need to order more pictures, so I can continue. So happy that I finished some pages and of course, had a lovely evening with great ladies.

We went to Seoul on Friday for the Taylor Swift concert. I went with some friends while Chris stayed at the hotel with the kiddos. I am waiting for my friend Heather to update her blog, so I can lift some pictures from the concert (hint, hint, Heather ;) She's an awesome photographer, so the pics are well worth the wait.

Happy Halloween!

The Halloween festivities are in full swing here. We attended a "Fall Festival" at my school on Thursday evening and today we enjoyed a "fall festival" at the girls' school. We've managed to keep their costumes a secret until Wednesday when Claire spilled the beans. She was doing so well at keeping the secret, I almost thought she wasn't our child for awhile ;) Claire dressed as "Pinkalicious" and Mya was a cupcake. My Mom and Dad bought Claire the book, "Pinkalicious" for her first birthday. It has been an on-going hit with our girls. They both have the entire book memorized. It is such a cute book where this girl named "Pinkalicious" loves pink. She eats too many pink cupcakes and turns pink, which she is thinks is simply beautiful then red, which is less than favorable. She eats her vegetables to turn alleviate her pain. In the meantime, her little brother is envious and devours the last one, then turns pink too. It is a ...

my workout playlist

I never dreamed I'd be listening/watching this when I worked out, but it is true. Here it is: photo courtesty of Laurieberkner.com I wouldn't have it any other way. My little healthy lifestyle journey is going well. I have exercised 7 days thus far which consists of treadmill activity and an ab workout every other day. I don't pressure myself to run everyday, but I have run 4 of the 7 days. I am quite proud of that. I have never been a runner or enjoyed running, but I have grown to like it. I used to say that I had exercise induced asthma! I think I did, but maybe I outgrew it? ha. Whatever the reason, I am finding it pretty easy to run and maintain a steady pace for no less than 20 minutes each time. Pretty impressive feat for a girl like me. Interestingly, I had planned to take today off, but didn't. I actually had the desire to run. Chris and I are both sticking to the eating plan as well. So far I am down about 4 pounds. Although 4 pounds is plenty, it ...

0.0

Yes, indeeedy do. 0.0 is exactly the amount of weight I lost this week. Irritating! Here's the breakdown: number of times I cheated on my diet--ZERO! number of times I worked out--FIVE!! (running, no less). Now that is a mean, mean slap in the face. After I picked myself off the floor and resisted the urge to throw the scale through my window, I've come to realize that it is time to call in the big guns. There will be no messing around. Through a very valuable (HA!--sense the sarcasm) inservice this year, I've learned that I am "Green," meaning logical, research based, problem solver, mathmatical thinker. I am applying the same thought and strategy to my 'get fit' adventure. There will be no relying on the treadmill to tell me how much I've burned. That thing lies, LIES, LIES!! Take for example, the fact that each time I worked out, I burned at least 300 calories--most often 350, my pulse was around 87 (which is pretty much a near death resting ...
