I am officially 2 months into this healthier lifestyle journey. It was a long first month, but the second month has seemed to sail right past me. Interestingly, I've had less progress per say the second month too. It is funny how the moment I see progress, I begin to sabotage it by making poor choices or not continuing with the exercise as I had before. I have eased up on the diet quite a bit. I am not restricting sugars or carbs, but I eat them in significant moderation. I just feel better without them in my system--less bloated, less hungry, more energy.
Here's the update 60 days in:
-13 pounds
-11.5 inches
I am wearing clothing 2 sizes smaller, which I previously wore before I was pregnant with Claire. I can now run for 30 minutes at a steady pace (5.7MPH) and 2.5% incline. It is slow, but being someone who used to have exercise induced asthma (self diagnosed ;), I am working simply toward increasing time and consistency. I actually crave exercise, which is something I've never really experienced--even when I was extremely active. I am really happy with this change. As I reread what I've written, I realize I make myself sound like a fat blob who never worked out until now. That isn't the truth at all. I have never been larger than a size 12 until I had babies. I was always active, participating in sports all through high school and although I gained 10 pounds or so in college, I stayed pretty active--walking, rollerblading. I just haven't truly worked out on a consistent basis since I had babies. I went in phases--a few weeks here, a month there, but never a lifestyle change and certainly never something I craved. Big, positive shift. Anyway, the hard work is paying off even if the weight loss results aren't necessarily out of this world.
Now for my biggest joys and largest sources of entertainment:

Claire showing off her new Tinkerbell undies. Yes, why not wear all three pairs at once??

Um yeah, that is my almost four year old who still fits in a babydoll stroller. |

My wonderful husband sent me a card. He used to write such nice cards to me for holidays, birthdays and no reason at all, but he has slipped quite a bit. I guess 7 years of marriage, 2 small kiddos and juggling life does that to a person. Anyway, he surprised me with not one but 2 cards yesterday. It was a lovely surprise! |
Our weekends seem to slip right by. Yesterday we talked to Daddy, ran errands, I took the kiddos to the pool (I did bring my camera, but the lense fogged the entire time because it was so warm inside) and played at home. Today will be more of the same, but with a walk down to the neighborhood playground instead of the pool. We're counting the days until Daddy comes home. We miss him!
