3 more weeks!

My Mom and I have returned from our week long trip to Arizona where we spent precious time shopping, bonding, laughing, scrubbing and scrubbing some more. Their new house is LOVELY. She is thrilled and so excited to be close to her brothers as well as within a short driving distance to pretty much any shopping experience or restaurant she wishes to enjoy ;) I am happy that she's happy and looking forward to enjoying the new house with my family as well. We scrubbed every nook and cranny, got the grout on her tile floors from black to a beigy red and hung blinds in every stinkin window. It was a job! My hands hurt, my knees are nasty, but it looks lovely and again, she is thrilled. I talked to Claire and Mya everyday. Claire had a countdown going and talked on and on about all the fun she was having with Papa. He did a great job, not that I had any doubt. I was simply worried because I know how exhausting our adorable children can be ;) He took them to our farm where they rode in the tractors and fed the cows, filled up the swimming pool for them to enjoy, took them to the park nearly everyday, ventured to Minot to spend quality time with my sister, Lauren, took them to Grand Forks to see Winnie the Pooh too. One of the final days I was away, I said to Claire, "Wow, it sounds like you've had fun." She responded, "I've had a great time, a really great time." Seriously. Melted. My. Heart. She is such a grown up at times. They did have a great time. On the same note, they were glad I returned. I missed them. They missed me.

We drove to Bismarck for our week long stay with my sister Lisa and her family. Claire had a dentist appointment today. Sadly, I think this kiddo got my crappy teeth. She had 2 cavities, so one was filled today and the other will be done on Thursday. She did fabulously! I have had nothing but avoidance issues and ill feelings toward dentistry since childhood. My dentist as a child was not a kind person, so it has been very important to me that our children have positive experiences from the get go. We take them to a pediatric dentist who is WONDERFUL! She did so well and has always done so well. She LOVES going to the dentist, so cavities or not, I am thrilled! We will be brushing and flossing a whole lot better, though!

My Silhoutte arrived while I was away. This machine is INCREDIBLE! I am already in love and I hardly know its name. Ha. I have no excuse not to finish our kiddos scrapbooks now--well, after I have the pictures printed, I'll have no excuse!

I finally took some time to experiment with Pintrist. I think I am hooked! I am loving the ease of the site and the amazing ideas that are at my fingertips. Organization is not my forte, so this site has helped hide my deficits ;) Love it!

Lots of words and no pictures. I didn't  bring my camera to AZ. I should have just to show you the change in the grout color. It is truly unbelievable. More pictures will come this weekend as I am spending one last weekend with my entire family--minus Chris. I am so blessed.

So glad to hear that you are back with your kiddos! After hearing how much fun they had with Papa I wonder if he would like to take care of me for the week :)

Yes, indeeedy do. 0.0 is exactly the amount of weight I lost this week. Irritating! Here's the breakdown: number of times I cheated on my diet--ZERO! number of times I worked out--FIVE!! (running, no less). Now that is a mean, mean slap in the face. After I picked myself off the floor and resisted the urge to throw the scale through my window, I've come to realize that it is time to call in the big guns. There will be no messing around. Through a very valuable (HA!--sense the sarcasm) inservice this year, I've learned that I am "Green," meaning logical, research based, problem solver, mathmatical thinker. I am applying the same thought and strategy to my 'get fit' adventure. There will be no relying on the treadmill to tell me how much I've burned. That thing lies, LIES, LIES!! Take for example, the fact that each time I worked out, I burned at least 300 calories--most often 350, my pulse was around 87 (which is pretty much a near death resting ...

my workout playlist

I never dreamed I'd be listening/watching this when I worked out, but it is true. Here it is: photo courtesty of Laurieberkner.com I wouldn't have it any other way. My little healthy lifestyle journey is going well. I have exercised 7 days thus far which consists of treadmill activity and an ab workout every other day. I don't pressure myself to run everyday, but I have run 4 of the 7 days. I am quite proud of that. I have never been a runner or enjoyed running, but I have grown to like it. I used to say that I had exercise induced asthma! I think I did, but maybe I outgrew it? ha. Whatever the reason, I am finding it pretty easy to run and maintain a steady pace for no less than 20 minutes each time. Pretty impressive feat for a girl like me. Interestingly, I had planned to take today off, but didn't. I actually had the desire to run. Chris and I are both sticking to the eating plan as well. So far I am down about 4 pounds. Although 4 pounds is plenty, it ...

7 weeks

7 weeks has brought a couple of changes for sweet baby Mya. She is eating 5+ ounces of milk/feeding. Mya is much more awake now. She typically sleeps for about 4 hours during the day, otherwise is checking out this big bad world. Mya seems to enjoy our daily walks. She looks around and is a pretty content kiddo. Claire tends to her pacis if the need arises. We've introduced her to the activity mat, which she enjoys if she is left alone; however, given the fact that Claire too is fascinated by the mat and Mya, being left alone is a rare occurence. Mya sits in the swing daily, although she isn't a huge fan at this point. We're hoping to change her ways. She is strong, holding her head for minutes at a time and loves standing on her little feet. Mya has begun smiling. She has done this consistently for the past several days, but it is difficult to capture such an event on film as she stops smiling the moment you break eye-contact. This milestone is such a heart melting one. Th...
