Mya and Claire began their first session of swimming lessons in August. They had a blast! Both kiddos love the water. Claire warmed up to the water last spring, finally putting her head under while Mya made leaps and bounds of progress this fall. She too is putting her head under water, jumping in, and going down the slides. Fear no more. It is lovely. They were each so eager to go to lessons each day. Claire is able to swim a bit on her own. It is a combined underwater glide with a front float ;) We are quite proud of them both, having passed Preschool Level 1. We'll continue on this water journey more this year, but getting them into lessons is quite the competition. Pre-Registration for the next session began at 6:00. Pre-registration is only for people who have had their kiddos in lessons in the past 90 days. I thought it began at 8:00 and was there by 10:00. No afterschool sessions were left, but we were put on the wait list and called days later with one option that happened to conflict with soccer. We have since pulled them out of soccer, so hopefully our freed up schedule works a bit better with swimming. I'd much rather do the swimming thing than soccer at this point, but we'll see.
The Halloween festivities are in full swing here. We attended a "Fall Festival" at my school on Thursday evening and today we enjoyed a "fall festival" at the girls' school. We've managed to keep their costumes a secret until Wednesday when Claire spilled the beans. She was doing so well at keeping the secret, I almost thought she wasn't our child for awhile ;) Claire dressed as "Pinkalicious" and Mya was a cupcake. My Mom and Dad bought Claire the book, "Pinkalicious" for her first birthday. It has been an on-going hit with our girls. They both have the entire book memorized. It is such a cute book where this girl named "Pinkalicious" loves pink. She eats too many pink cupcakes and turns pink, which she is thinks is simply beautiful then red, which is less than favorable.
