This was part of our conversation after school today.
Claire--"I'm going to show you a picture of this guy."
Me--"Oh really, who is he?"
Claire-- "It is of someone who was a King, but the people didn't like him, so they shot him. They used a weapon."
She takes a picture of Martin Luther King, Jr. out of her backpack. Hmmmm. I guess he was a "King." Only through a child's eyes....
I'll also add that she really did "get the message" as she provided several examples of discrimination based on the color of skin. "I can't play with you because you are brown and I only play with white children." I am guessing this was the mode of delivery for this lesson. Very cute and meaningful.
