on the road again...




in a crazy turn of events, the kiddos and i decided to hop a van to nd and visit with my family for an additional week and a half before flying back home. it was quite the adventure and although all went well, those family road trips aren't as enjoyable as i had remembered. claire and mya did quite well. they needed a couple of breaks, but otherwise, our routine stops were enough to hold them over. claire watched her movies, which we all grew to despise, and irritated lauren or was it lisa? anyway, we were glad to reach nd 2 days and 2 hotels later. the long drive was definitely worth the trip. nd was great. really great. i spent time catching up with old friends (more of that later) and helping my parents as best i could, while they soaked up every minute with my little ones. there is nothing like lovin from the grandparents. i only wish we could see them more. they are one of a kind.

Yes, indeeedy do. 0.0 is exactly the amount of weight I lost this week. Irritating! Here's the breakdown: number of times I cheated on my diet--ZERO! number of times I worked out--FIVE!! (running, no less). Now that is a mean, mean slap in the face. After I picked myself off the floor and resisted the urge to throw the scale through my window, I've come to realize that it is time to call in the big guns. There will be no messing around. Through a very valuable (HA!--sense the sarcasm) inservice this year, I've learned that I am "Green," meaning logical, research based, problem solver, mathmatical thinker. I am applying the same thought and strategy to my 'get fit' adventure. There will be no relying on the treadmill to tell me how much I've burned. That thing lies, LIES, LIES!! 2 weeks...

As I write this, my house is being cleaned and not by me. This is my favorite day of the week. There is nothing like going home to a clean house and smelling the bleach to know it is germ free as well. This is my second good day in a row! I took the day off yesterday. Claire didn't have school due to Fasching (German equivalent of Halloween--minus the door to door trick or treating), so I gave Mya the option of hanging out with us as well. She took some convincing, but later said she had a great day. I must admit that I was focused on giving my back a much needed break, so my morning consisted of napping and laying on the couch. Not my best parenting in action, but it did wonders for the rest of the day. We met Chris for lunch, then returned home to enjoy the sunshine before the girls' swimming lessons.
