why oh why?

i am sort of freaking out about random things recently. freaking is probably a bit of an exaggeration, so perhaps anxiousness is more fitting...
here they are:
1. i had all of our pics saved to my computer. before chris left, we got a mega external hard drive. i am seriously talking mega. i couldn't fill this sucker up if i took 100 photos everyday for the rest of my life. it has massive storage. however, the anxiousness is starting to rear its ugly head as visions of that thing crashing flashes through my mind. sooooo, i am thinking of moving all my files to an online storage company. anyone done this? the prices seem very reasonable, but i am concerned about the accessibility. i want to be able to pull a picture or two at a whim.
2. i turn 32 tomorrow. yikes. i don't feel old and i don't think i look it. in fact, most of my students--granted middle schoolers have no sense of age, which is probably why i love them so--think i am in my 20's. anyway, crazy to think that i am moving in that direction. i quickly did some calculations as chris and i would like a couple more kiddos to add to our brood and i could quickly become a very old momma as the youngest graduates high school. oiy! now if only the AF would get on the same page---we are on a schedule!! ha.
3. chris and i will soon be together. i am so excited. i have never flown overseas before so this will be a fantastic first for me, but we have also never left our children for even so much as a night of alone time. it isn't that we haven't wanted to, but being so far away from trusted family has not made it an option. leaving our kids with my parents will be so hard. i know they are going to be in the best hands and probably will have more fun than imaginable, but the mere thought brings hives to my chest. chris thinks i am going to be a mess and i think he is so right. who would've guessed i have control issues? ha. don't answer that alison, april or jessica. i am guessing those would be the peanut gallery chiming in on that point--however, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Here is my opinion (even if you don't want it here it is anyway). I don't think you need a storage space for your photo files - the mega hard drive should be just fine. Besides, do you really want an added monthly expense? Secondly, 32 is the new 18 and you look fierce, so no worries on that topic. As far as your upcoming trip, I think it is just what you need to reconnect with your hubby and rejuvenate your spirit. Your girls will be more than fine without you (the question is will you be more than fine without them?) As far as the control issues...think of this trip as a big therapy session (for you) in losing control :-) There, now that you have my input don't you feel better :-)

P.S. Have you purchased your ticket yet??

Happy Birthday!

Kids and the age thing.. it amuses me to heat the things that come out of their mouths. Lord knows they will keep me feeling young!

Enjoy your time with your husband!

Control freak? C'mon! How else would the gravitational pull of the universe continue if we control freaks didn't stick together?! I know you'll miss the girls, but try to let go (a little bit) and enjoy your second honeymoon! Didnt' you say Chris owed you an upgrade on your wedding ring ;) Enjoy!
I use Mozy @ $5/mo for unlimited storage and that's ontop of my external hard drive.I have never had to pull up any individual items off there 'on a whim' but I have been able to retrieve everything that I thought I had lost. It's been a live saver for me.
I am excited for you to fly overseas. I think you'll enjoy it.
Have fun.

my workout playlist

I never dreamed I'd be listening/watching this when I worked out, but it is true. Here it is: photo courtesty of Laurieberkner.com I wouldn't have it any other way. My little healthy lifestyle journey is going well. I have exercised 7 days thus far which consists of treadmill activity and an ab workout every other day. I don't pressure myself to run everyday, but I have run 4 of the 7 days. I am quite proud of that. I have never been a runner or enjoyed running, but I have grown to like it. I used to say that I had exercise induced asthma! I think I did, but maybe I outgrew it? ha. Whatever the reason, I am finding it pretty easy to run and maintain a steady pace for no less than 20 minutes each time. Pretty impressive feat for a girl like me. Interestingly, I had planned to take today off, but didn't. I actually had the desire to run. Chris and I are both sticking to the eating plan as well. So far I am down about 4 pounds. Although 4 pounds is plenty, it ...

Pink Family

Chris and I are creatures of habit. We like what we like. When we find something especially wonderful, we tend to go a bit overboard. Case in point--Chinese restaurant in Minot, ND. We frequented it often at least a couple of times per week. This was basically THE place we went out to eat. The host actually started to say things like, "nice to see you AGAIN." We were rather embarrassed and fearful that his line would eventually become, "your usual table?" Thankfully we moved. Since coming to Korea, we've tried every Brazilian Steakhouse (there are 4 or 5), I deemed Ceia my favorite. It has the most delicious white rice with which I put this onion mixture on top and it is oh. so. yummy. We became frequent visitors--typically one night per week. We joked between ourselves that we were going to be greeted as we were dreading in Minot. It never happened, thankfully, but who knows what the staff actually said as they primarily spoke Korean :) Another quirk Chris an...

9 Months

Claire is nine months old. She is such an active kid, always on the go. She no longer lays nicely when we change her diaper. It is quite the challenge. She is getting rather quick at crawling, so we have to move just as quickly to keep her out of where she doesn't belong--the fridge, cupboards, etc. Developmentally, she is right on track or maybe a bit advanced in our biased eyes. She crawls, pulls herself up, is beginning to move from one piece of furniture to another, mostly eats table food, and imitates us (both in the noises we make or actions--knocking on a door). When we hold her hands, she is beginning to take steps without much guidance. On Saturday, she made her first attempt to climb a step. Sadly, it ended with her sliding down. She has three teeth--two on the bottom, one on top with another coming in on top. Ten things we love about her: 1. her smile 2. her curiosity 3. the way she holds our hands or her own hands when she sleeps 4. her easy-goingness 5....
