The house we are considering. Brand new. Very nice and a single family home, which is a rare thing in Korea.

Yesterday we spent the day hanging around the base and downtown area. We had to finish some paperwork for my job application review, visited with Chris' friends at work and then went golfing. Once again, I actually enjoyed my golfing endeavor. I even parred a hole and finished with a 48. Not too bad for my second return after 10 years. I can't wait to see what I do with my own clubs, although I still have to replace my 5 wood that was stolen after our last PCS. Grrr. We wrapped up the day with more house shopping and dinner with friends. It was fun. I learned a little more about Korean culture. Three things: 1. Koreans are not raised with an understanding of personal space, so they will often bump into you or stand very close to you. This is not intended as disrespect. 2. Koreans celebrate their birthdays according to the calendar year. Everyone turns one year older on January 1. They do acknowledge their respective birthdays on the actual date they were born, but they do not turn "a year" older. 3. Koreans believe they are 1 year old when they are born. They acknowledge the time of pregnancy as being the first year.

Your post made me smile, especially with the cultural tidbits at the end. I haven't lived in Korea but I have lived in two other Asian countries and even after being back in the states for 5 years I still forget that people like personal space...you mean you can't fit 5 people on a sofa?!?!? I hope you have a wonderful time in Korea learning all about the culture!

We are potentially down to our last four months in Korea. I say "potentially" because it rests solely on where we are going. If we are heading back to the States, we will most likely be leaving early June so that we can enjoy a full summer with family and have time to get settled before Claire begins school. We caught wind today of what could be our next assignment. Although it is far from official word, all of a sudden my tummy is filled with butterflies. I had the privilege of teaching a little first grade girl who was one of a set of quadruplets. They (she and her sisters) are the most delightful little girls. They are well behaved and truly beautiful inside and out. Anyway, their family was due to PCS (military move) in December. I teased her that I was going to follow her and live down the road. You wanted it, you asked for it, so here it is. A post. Hopefully this post will satisfy all your desires. I am not writing about the apple of my eye, Claire, but of the other apple of my eye--reality tv. I love it! Right now I am getting my fill of Big Brother. I have even lured Chris into my dark place. He mostly watched last season because Dick was such a jerk, but Chris is hooked. He's a dedicated viewer once again this season. Sadly, he was a fan of Matty who was kicked off a few weeks ago. I don't think I have a favorite. I find them all to be so obnoxious, yet I watch. Go figure. I obviously need some more excitement in my life. Girls who wear butt showing shorts, screaming matches, verbal abuse, crazy eyes, back stabbing, boys running around in their colored tighty whiteys (if tighty whiteys are colored, are they still called tighty whiteys?)---all in one episode! Progress

I used to be prompt about scrapbooking in Claire's album. After seeing my sister's pictures piled up three children later, I was determined not to have the same fate. I am sure it is difficult for some of you to believe, but since Claire has been born, my free time has been limited. Really, it has. So, our pictures are finding their way into piles too--5 to be exact. However, I am thrilled to say that I finished (ok, they aren't completely finished, but nearly. I only have journaling to do.) six pages. Yes, that's right, I said SIX!! It was a major accomplishment. Here they are for your viewing pleasure. Only 5 more months left to get through....any volunteers? Jessica???
