I Love Guam! Part 6

Our final days in Guam were spent at the beach, canoing, swimming, an attempt at a dolphin watching excursion turned snorkeling fun, and a polynesian dinner show. While on the island, we spotted many hermit crabs, birds (which Mya adorably chased--I felt like we had been depriving her living in Korea as there really aren't a whole lot of cute little birds to chase here), and tiny lizards. The girls were captivated each time we saw them on sidewalk, ceilings or anywhere else they roamed.

Funny story...my Mom has all sorts of  decor/figurines, etc. in their house. When we were visiting last summer, Mya disappeared. We found her bending down ever so slightly nose to nose with a set of hand carved pilgrims. It was the sweetest thing. It was as if she really thought they were real. Mya has done several things simliar. She looks very intently at things and stops to pet porcelin animals should we come across them.  Case in point--this pig. We passed it several times a day and each time, Mya would stop to say hello. Sweetness.

After the polynesian show, several cast members gave leis to children in the audience. Our girls each received one. I had them stop for a picture only to open the floodgates to many more photos from passers-by. I am not sure what our children are going to think when it is time to return to the states where they are not idolized and certainly not the have following they seem to have here ;)

Okay, funny story. Leaving the show, this guy wanted Mya and Claire to pose for a picture. Claire refused altogether and Mya was with Chris. When he tried to step aside and leave Mya for the picture, she started to follow. The next thing I knew, Chris this random guy and Mya were all posing for a picture. Ha! It was hilarious. Chris wasn't sure how it all transpired, but it was funny that he too was included in the paparazzi shot. I was chatting with my sister, Lisa,  the other day about what these strangers do with the pictures of our kids. We were joking that they use them for their holiday cards. I don't know. I only hope for the best and pray they are in the"right" hands.

That is so sweet about Mya talking to the porcelain pig! I loved all these pics and am so envious of all the great fun you all are having!

0.0

Yes, indeeedy do. 0.0 is exactly the amount of weight I lost this week. Irritating! Here's the breakdown: number of times I cheated on my diet--ZERO! number of times I worked out--FIVE!! (running, no less). Now that is a mean, mean slap in the face. After I picked myself off the floor and resisted the urge to throw the scale through my window, I've come to realize that it is time to call in the big guns. There will be no messing around. Through a very valuable (HA!--sense the sarcasm) inservice this year, I've learned that I am "Green," meaning logical, research based, problem solver, mathmatical thinker. I am applying the same thought and strategy to my 'get fit' adventure. There will be no relying on the treadmill to tell me how much I've burned. That thing lies, LIES, LIES!! Take for example, the fact that each time I worked out, I burned at least 300 calories--most often 350, my pulse was around 87 (which is pretty much a near death resting ...

7 weeks

7 weeks has brought a couple of changes for sweet baby Mya. She is eating 5+ ounces of milk/feeding. Mya is much more awake now. She typically sleeps for about 4 hours during the day, otherwise is checking out this big bad world. Mya seems to enjoy our daily walks. She looks around and is a pretty content kiddo. Claire tends to her pacis if the need arises. We've introduced her to the activity mat, which she enjoys if she is left alone; however, given the fact that Claire too is fascinated by the mat and Mya, being left alone is a rare occurence. Mya sits in the swing daily, although she isn't a huge fan at this point. We're hoping to change her ways. She is strong, holding her head for minutes at a time and loves standing on her little feet. Mya has begun smiling. She has done this consistently for the past several days, but it is difficult to capture such an event on film as she stops smiling the moment you break eye-contact. This milestone is such a heart melting one. Th...

Bouncing Crazyiness!

I do alot of online shopping. When you live overseas, you have to. The BX is thrilling, yes, but it changes out the merchandise only so often ;) When it comes to clothing, if you shop at the BX (which I do as well), you can be guaranteed that at least 3 other people will be seen in the same item. Take for example this little gray vest that I bought. The other day, 2 other teachers showed up in the same one. Thankfully, I hadn't worn mine that day, but you get the point. Anyway, several places do not ship overseas. That's where my Mom comes in. I typically have the stuff mailed to her house and she graciously mails it to us. Readdressing the boxes, running to the post office and mailing our stuff is a major pain. I know this, but she's been so great about it. Priority mail is the way to go. She generally mails it priority and we recieve it in a week to ten days. However, I ordered a "jumpy jump" as Claire calls it, well before Christmas. Since it was so heavy and s...
