Tricare woes...

I am having my issues with Tricare. Up until now, they have been FABULOUS! Hanscom is sort of a different base. They don't have a full medical facility on site, so you can pretty much get a referral to any civilian facility you choose and if you live far enough away from base, you are golden. Our kids, for example, have a civilian pediatrician. I selected my OB/GYN list of civilian providers and I love them. However, in February we moved two miles further from base, which changed my Primary Care Manager from a base provider to a civilian provider. Normally I would not care as I NEVER go to the doctor (knock on wood as I'm not one to get sick--and when I do, I deal with it the North Dakota way--suck it up and tough it out ;), but my "new PCM" is not taking new patients. I am so frustrated. Basically, I have to find a new PCM or fill out a new application for Tricare to change back my PCM to base. However this process takes 3-5 processing days. I simply want a referral to my previous OB/GYN, who books 6 months in advance. At this rate, I won't be seen until January. Grrr. I guess I am going to take the same approach with medical care as I do with my hair stylists. I am only sort of kidding, but....I choose random people and when I don't like the end result, I go to the next one (sometimes the same day or often, the day after). It ends up to be a bit costly and perhaps, it could be a bit risky in terms of playing with my health/body, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do ;)

I do the same. I pick one, get what I need and then use a different MD. Remember you can see a specialist (OB/GYN) once a year without a refferal.

Where do you live? I lived in Somerville and my husband in Arlington when he was stationed there (we were dating then) and I saw an awesome MD at MGH, I could give you a name if you are interested.

Tricare drives me nuts. So does the base hospital here. Most of the time I suck it up just so I don't have to deal with them!

This might be a dumb question, but are you originally from Nodak??? We're stationed here now and I was born and raised here...

Hi Staci,
I am from ND. I grew up in a small town, went to college at MSU and lived in Bismarck for a few years. My parents (who still live in ND)are flying out here next week so they can drive the kiddos and I back to ND for some summer sun. Looking forward to a slower pace and simpler style of living. It is amazing what you miss when you leave. You'll understand and appreciate it so much more when you PSC, although it sounds as though you already do!

A post

You wanted it, you asked for it, so here it is. A post. Hopefully this post will satisfy all your desires. I am not writing about the apple of my eye, Claire, but of the other apple of my eye--reality tv. I love it! Right now I am getting my fill of Big Brother. I have even lured Chris into my dark place. He mostly watched last season because Dick was such a jerk, but Chris is hooked. He's a dedicated viewer once again this season. Sadly, he was a fan of Matty who was kicked off a few weeks ago. I don't think I have a favorite. I find them all to be so obnoxious, yet I watch. Go figure. I obviously need some more excitement in my life. Girls who wear butt showing shorts, screaming matches, verbal abuse, crazy eyes, back stabbing, boys running around in their colored tighty whiteys (if tighty whiteys are colored, are they still called tighty whiteys?)---all in one episode! It is a gold mine. My second can't miss show is Housewives of Orange County or New York City. I really

4 months

We are potentially down to our last four months in Korea. I say "potentially" because it rests solely on where we are going. If we are heading back to the States, we will most likely be leaving early June so that we can enjoy a full summer with family and have time to get settled before Claire begins school. We caught wind today of what could be our next assignment. Although it is far from official word, all of a sudden my tummy is filled with butterflies. I had the privilege of teaching a little first grade girl who was one of a set of quadruplets. They (she and her sisters) are the most delightful little girls. They are well behaved and truly beautiful inside and out. Anyway, their family was due to PCS (military move) in December. I teased her that I was going to follow her and live down the road. While they were house hunting, I continually asked if there was a neighboring house for me. She'd laugh and giggle, not really sure if I was serious or not. Her Mom thought

Progress

I used to be prompt about scrapbooking in Claire's album. After seeing my sister's pictures piled up three children later, I was determined not to have the same fate. I am sure it is difficult for some of you to believe, but since Claire has been born, my free time has been limited. Really, it has. So, our pictures are finding their way into piles too--5 to be exact. However, I am thrilled to say that I finished (ok, they aren't completely finished, but nearly. I only have journaling to do.) six pages. Yes, that's right, I said SIX!! It was a major accomplishment. Here they are for your viewing pleasure. Only 5 more months left to get through....any volunteers? Jessica???
