First Dentist Visit

Claire had her first experience with the dentist. It went great. We'd been practicing for a couple of days, trying to give her an idea of what to expect. Her cousin Luke came with us. He also gave her the low-down on prizes, balloons and toothbrushes. She was excited. Claire chose a princess toothbrush, opened well for the hygenist, allowed her to brush her teeth, but was not so sure about Dr. Bryce. Poor guy. He tried so hard and was soooo nice. He sang to her and tried to win her over, but he only got a partially opened mouth in response. Claire did a bit better at the end, but hopefully next time she's great from the start. She has no cavities and he said she is doing a great job brushing. He was pleased that she was off the bottle at 1 and stopped with the paci at 2. Because both of those were stopped early, there are no effects on the alignment of her teeth.

Yes, indeeedy do. 0.0 is exactly the amount of weight I lost this week. Irritating! Here's the breakdown: number of times I cheated on my diet--ZERO! number of times I worked out--FIVE!! (running, no less). Now that is a mean, mean slap in the face. After I picked myself off the floor and resisted the urge to throw the scale through my window, I've come to realize that it is time to call in the big guns. There will be no messing around. Through a very valuable (HA!--sense the sarcasm) inservice this year, I've learned that I am "Green," meaning logical, research based, problem solver, mathmatical thinker. I am applying the same thought and strategy to my 'get fit' adventure. There will be no relying on the treadmill to tell me how much I've burned. That thing lies, LIES, LIES!! 2 weeks...

As I write this, my house is being cleaned and not by me. This is my favorite day of the week. There is nothing like going home to a clean house and smelling the bleach to know it is germ free as well. This is my second good day in a row! I took the day off yesterday. Claire didn't have school due to Fasching (German equivalent of Halloween--minus the door to door trick or treating), so I gave Mya the option of hanging out with us as well. She took some convincing, but later said she had a great day. I must admit that I was focused on giving my back a much needed break, so my morning consisted of napping and laying on the couch. Not my best parenting in action, but it did wonders for the rest of the day. We met Chris for lunch, then returned home to enjoy the sunshine before the girls' swimming lessons.
