Mya showing off. She has taken a huge liking to standing. This was taken during our 12 hour stay at the MSP airport. Torture.

Claire and her Papa.

Mya and her mullet. She actually liked wearing this thing. She must have some redneck in her.

Where are Luke and Olivia? After the huge snowfall, we all went out to play.

Claire getting ready for some sledding fun or not so much. She wasn't a huge fan.

After a very long Christmas Eve day, we finally arrived in North Dakota. There was a huge storm that swiped the entire midwest and greatly affected travel. It turns out we were very lucky to arrive when we did; however, after spending nearly 12 hours in the Minneapolis airport, it was very difficult to feel an ounce of graciousness. We ended up missing our Christmas Eve church service and opened our gifts in our travel clothes. Not exactly picture perfect, but my Mom went all out on the food and atmosphere preparations. She made so many goodies and the food was just as I had imagined. Yummy. We had our traditional feast--meatballs/gravy, mashed potatoes, vege tray, and salads. It was delicious. Snow continued to fall for the next two days, which kept us from embarking on our traditional day after Christmas ornament shopping. Instead, the guys shoveled and blew the snow from our street. We did make it uptown to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks--Squeekwal. Claire loved sitting with Ava and wandering back and forth from seat to seat. She also ate half a bag of popcorn, but I guess that is part of the fun of movies. It was her first movie since infancy in a theater and although she went to the Princess and the Frog days later, she still isn't quite ready for the theater. My family packed up and moved on to Bismarck for a few days. It was nice to spend more time with my sisters and Claire especially enjoyed the time with her cousins. Mya even broke another tooth. She wants to stand all the time and loves the love and attention from all. Tonight my sister is hosting a New Year's Eve party. As we left their house this morning, Claire had it in her mind that we were having a party too. We bought some lobster and scallops together with some potatoes, wine and movies. It is fun. Tomorrow we are heading back home. It is definitely bittersweet. I look forward to my own bed, our usual routine and a sense of normalcy, but I will certainly miss my family and Claire and Mya will most definitely miss their Grammy, Papa, Aunties, Uncles, and cousins. They have been spoiled beyond belief but have been really good. Good byes always stink, but thankfully, we'll be together again in April. Although this Christmas has been somewhat strange, it has been wonderful just the same.

A post

You wanted it, you asked for it, so here it is. A post. Hopefully this post will satisfy all your desires. I am not writing about the apple of my eye, Claire, but of the other apple of my eye--reality tv. I love it! Right now I am getting my fill of Big Brother. I have even lured Chris into my dark place. He mostly watched last season because Dick was such a jerk, but Chris is hooked. He's a dedicated viewer once again this season. Sadly, he was a fan of Matty who was kicked off a few weeks ago. I don't think I have a favorite. I find them all to be so obnoxious, yet I watch. Go figure. I obviously need some more excitement in my life. Girls who wear butt showing shorts, screaming matches, verbal abuse, crazy eyes, back stabbing, boys running around in their colored tighty whiteys (if tighty whiteys are colored, are they still called tighty whiteys?)---all in one episode! It is a gold mine. My second can't miss show is Housewives of Orange County or New York City. I really

4 months

We are potentially down to our last four months in Korea. I say "potentially" because it rests solely on where we are going. If we are heading back to the States, we will most likely be leaving early June so that we can enjoy a full summer with family and have time to get settled before Claire begins school. We caught wind today of what could be our next assignment. Although it is far from official word, all of a sudden my tummy is filled with butterflies. I had the privilege of teaching a little first grade girl who was one of a set of quadruplets. They (she and her sisters) are the most delightful little girls. They are well behaved and truly beautiful inside and out. Anyway, their family was due to PCS (military move) in December. I teased her that I was going to follow her and live down the road. While they were house hunting, I continually asked if there was a neighboring house for me. She'd laugh and giggle, not really sure if I was serious or not. Her Mom thought

Progress

I used to be prompt about scrapbooking in Claire's album. After seeing my sister's pictures piled up three children later, I was determined not to have the same fate. I am sure it is difficult for some of you to believe, but since Claire has been born, my free time has been limited. Really, it has. So, our pictures are finding their way into piles too--5 to be exact. However, I am thrilled to say that I finished (ok, they aren't completely finished, but nearly. I only have journaling to do.) six pages. Yes, that's right, I said SIX!! It was a major accomplishment. Here they are for your viewing pleasure. Only 5 more months left to get through....any volunteers? Jessica???
